Heaven-Sent Community Services and Veterans Assistance, Inc. BPS Program

Why Our BPS Program Matters at Heaven-Sent Community Services and Veterans Assistance, Inc., we created the BPS Program (Bridge Peer Support) to step in when veterans and families face crisis moments that could lead to arrest, jail time, or family separation. Who better intervenes than fellow veterans and trained peer supporters who understand the struggle?

BPS Crisis Support

Heaven Sent’s strategic plan includes peer support, mental health and wellness referrals, and Battered Person Support & Safety partnerships as part of crisis response for veterans and families under pressure.

One call, one conversation, one crisis diverted at a time.

Peer-to-Peer Intervention Saves Lives

Veterans often reach a breaking point at the end of their funds, waiting for the next paycheck, with nowhere to turn. When tensions escalate at home, even a short separation can feel impossible because hotel costs, gas money, or even a meal may be out of reach.

Pride keeps many veterans from asking for help. If you are like so many of us, you do not want to admit you need support. Heaven-Sent becomes the bridge—one brother, one sister, one hand at a time.

Immediate Safe ShelterEmergency shelter for 24 to 72 hours with no questions asked.
Crisis De-escalationSupport by veteran peers who “get it” and can help calm the situation with dignity.
Connection to CounselingWarm handoffs to counseling, financial guidance, and longer-term housing support.
Diverted ArrestsPractical intervention that can help keep records clean and families intact whenever possible.

Protecting Families of Children with Autism

Parents of children with autism face unique crises that too often lead to misunderstood arrests. News reports, advocacy work, and first-responder guidance continue to show how behavioral differences and communication barriers can escalate family crises when autism is not understood.

Common triggers include elopement, stimming, meltdowns mistaken for aggression, nonverbal children being unable to explain themselves, parents being blamed when they call for help, and legal standards that do not reflect autism realities.

Training Law EnforcementHelping first responders recognize autism indicators and use better de-escalation approaches.
Immediate Safe HavenProviding a safe place when crisis response fails or escalates instead of calming the situation.
Legal Rights EducationHelping parents prepare for meetings, hearings, and advocacy conversations.
Autism-Specialized ConnectionsConnecting families to long-term support services that understand autism.

Our Promise

Heaven Sent refuses to let veterans, parents, or families fall through the cracks of a system that does not understand their reality.

We are the hand extended when no one else is there—preventing jail time, preserving dignity, and rebuilding stability through peer support and practical help.
