Programs And How To Get Help

Programs & Services – Heaven‑Sent Community Services & Veterans Assistance, Inc.

Every person who comes to Heaven‑Sent is carrying a different story, but most are asking the same question: “Is there anyone who will really walk with me through this?” Our programs were built out of years of disaster work, Veterans support, and lived experience so that our answer can be “Yes.”

Heaven‑Sent offers practical, hands‑on programs for Veterans, Seniors, people with disabilities, and families in crisis. Whether someone is one bill away from homelessness or already sleeping in their car, we focus on safety, stability, and hope.

CRISIS & BASIC NEEDS SUPPORT

When life falls apart, it is hard to think about paperwork or long‑term plans. The first thing people need is to feel safe, heard, and not alone.

Who this helps

  • Veterans, Seniors, and families facing an immediate crisis
  • People who suddenly cannot afford food, gas, or basic essentials
  • Individuals who have been turned away or do not know where to start

What we offer

  • Emergency food and basic needs support when possible
  • Help thinking through immediate safety and next steps
  • Warm referral and coordination with other local resources
  • How to get help

If you are in crisis or helping someone who is, contact us through our Get Help page or

HOUSING SUPPORT & HOMELESSNESS PREVENTION

Housing is more than a roof. It is safety, dignity, and a place to breathe. Many of the people we serve are one crisis away from losing that.

Who this helps

  • Veterans, Seniors, and families at risk of losing housing
  • Individuals already unhoused and looking for a path back to stability
  • People stuck between agencies or waiting on decisions

What we offer

  • Support with navigating housing resources and options
  • Help understanding letters, notices, and deadlines
  • Advocacy and coordination with landlords, agencies, and partners
  • Planning toward more stable, long‑term housing

Our long‑term vision

Heaven‑Sent is working toward a tiny home community that will provide safe, dignified housing and wraparound services for Veterans, Seniors, and people with disabilities. This vision guides the way we design our housing support today.

VETERANS SERVICES & PEER SUPPORT

Many of us at Heaven‑Sent are Veterans or walk closely with Veterans and their families. We understand the weight of trying to hold everything together on your own.

Who this helps

  • Veterans of all eras and branches
  • Spouses, partners, and caregivers of Veterans
  • Veterans who feel burned out on “the system”

What we offer

  • Peer support from people who understand military and Veteran culture
  • Help navigating benefits, resources, and community supports
  • Listening without judgment, and walking through next steps together

We are not the VA, and we do not replace medical or mental health care, but we can help you make sense of options, connect with partners, and feel less alone in the process.

SUPPORT FOR SENIORS & PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

Seniors and people with disabilities often carry quiet battles—medication costs, transportation, isolation, and housing stress—that most people never see.

Who this helps

  • Seniors trying to balance rent, utilities, food, and medicine
  • Adults with physical, developmental, or mental health disabilities
  • Caregivers who are worn out and unsure where to turn

What we offer

  • Help understanding and connecting to community resources
  • Support with forms, phone calls, and navigating systems
  • Check‑ins and encouragement so people do not feel forgotten

We treat every person with dignity and respect, honoring their story, culture, faith, and independence.

DISASTER RELIEF & COMMUNITY RESPONSE

Heaven‑Sent was forged in disaster zones and crisis scenes. When storms hit or emergencies shake a community, we do what we have always done: we go.

Who this helps

  • Communities impacted by hurricanes, floods, fires, and other disasters
  • Families and individuals whose lives have been disrupted overnight
  • Local partners looking for experienced, boots‑on‑the‑ground support

What we offer

  • Coordination with local agencies, churches, and organizations
  • On‑the‑ground support where appropriate and possible
  • Long‑term follow‑up with the most vulnerable individuals and families

Our goal is not only to help with the first wave of need, but to stay aware of the people who tend to fall through the cracks.
