Disabilities Support & Family Respite Services
Seeing the Whole Person, Supporting the Whole Family
Every life touched by disability carries a story of strength, sacrifice, and unshakable love. At Heaven Sent Community Services and Veterans Assistance, we see the pain behind the perseverance, the exhaustion behind the smile, and the courage that keeps families moving forward even on the hardest days. We serve children, adults, and veterans with a wide range of disabilities, knowing that each condition brings unique challenges but the same undeniable humanity.
Physical disabilities like cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, amputations, and spinal cord injuries test both body and spirit in a world not built for them. Neurological and developmental disabilities such as autism, Down syndrome, fragile X, and developmental delays change how people sense, think, and connect, turning ordinary moments into overwhelming challenges but also revealing beautiful ways of seeing the world.
Learning disabilities and cognitive challenges, including dyslexia, ADHD, processing disorders, and intellectual disabilities, can make every school day feel like climbing a mountain that never ends. Sensory disabilities for those who are deaf, hard of hearing, blind, or partially sighted bring communication barriers and isolation — yet with support, accessibility, and inclusion, they shine with independence and insight that defy limitations.
Mental health and invisible disabilities like depression, anxiety, PTSD, traumatic brain injuries, and chronic illnesses quietly reshape lives. Veterans may relive battles long after they come home, while parents and spouses carry unseen wounds of worry and fatigue. Many of these conditions cannot be seen, but they weigh just as heavily as any visible injury.
Behind every disability is a family that carries the weight: parents, siblings, and spouses who give until there is nothing left to give. They juggle medications, therapies, appointments, and school meetings while asking hard questions about the future: “What happens when I am gone? Who will care for them then?” For them, the Heaven‑Sent Respite and Peer Break Program is not a luxury; it is a lifeline that offers time to breathe, to heal, and to remember that they are human too.
Our programs are built to bring hope and healing: pet and animal‑assisted therapy that calms restless hearts and brings smiles to silent faces; sensory‑friendly arts and activities where noise, light, and pace match comfort instead of expectation; adaptive recreation that celebrates what participants can do rather than what they cannot.
We also provide life skills and employment readiness training, teaching cooking, budgeting, self‑care, and social confidence one milestone at a time. Support circles for families and caregivers create a compassionate community where exhaustion, fear, and hope can finally be spoken out loud. Veterans disability support offers guidance for service members facing physical injuries, PTSD, and reintegration struggles after sacrifice and service, while inclusive outings and special events create moments of laughter and connection for every family.
At Heaven Sent Community Services, we see every story — trembling hands that refuse to give up, a parent whispering “I’m okay” through tears, and the endless love holding families together when strength runs out. We were founded to be the hands that lift, the hearts that listen, and the shoulders that help carry the load. No disability is too small to matter, no family too tired to deserve help, and no one ever has to walk this road alone.
Because here, at Heaven Sent, we do more than provide services — we restore hope.
