Families & Children Support
Stronger Families. Safer Children. Brighter Tomorrows.
When a family is struggling, the problem is rarely just one thing. Housing affects school. Transportation affects work. Food insecurity affects health. Childcare affects employment. A disaster can affect all of them at once.
Heaven Sent helps families identify immediate needs, navigate community resources, connect with appropriate programs and keep moving toward greater stability.
A Family Crisis Rarely Arrives One Problem at a Time.
It may begin with a parent losing hours at work. Then the electric bill falls behind. Then groceries become harder to afford.
The car breaks down. A child misses school. Mom misses another shift because she cannot find childcare.
The rent is due Friday.
Suddenly a family that was getting by is standing at the edge of homelessness.
Another family may be recovering from a hurricane, flood, fire or other emergency and discover that everything their children depended on yesterday is gone today.
A Veteran may return home and discover that serving the country did not make the cost of rent, groceries, childcare or raising children disappear.
Children do not choose the crisis surrounding them.
They still need somewhere safe to sleep. They still need breakfast. They still need clean clothes, school supplies, transportation, stability and somebody reminding them that tomorrow can be better.
See the Family — Not Just the Emergency.
A bag of groceries matters.
So does figuring out why the refrigerator was empty.
A motel room may matter tonight.
So does helping the family navigate a pathway toward stable housing.
A backpack helps a child go back to school.
So does helping the parent address transportation, food, employment and housing barriers that can keep that child from succeeding.
Heaven Sent wants to help families move beyond surviving today's crisis toward building tomorrow's stability.
Start With What the Family Needs Today. Then Work Toward Tomorrow.
Families do not need to know the name of every government, nonprofit or community program before asking for help. Start with the barrier.
Help for the Things Families Face Every Day.
Heaven Sent screens needs, helps families navigate available resources, coordinates appropriate referrals and follows up within our role and capacity.

Poverty Should Never Be Mistaken for a Lack of Love.
A parent can love a child with everything they have and still be unable to make rent.
A mother can be doing everything she knows how to do and still need diapers.
A father can work every available hour and still watch grocery prices outrun his paycheck.
A Veteran can have served this country honorably and still need help keeping a roof over the family's head.
Asking for help should not strip a family of dignity.
Heaven Sent believes assistance should respect the person receiving it. Children and families deserve safe, clean, appropriate and dignity-preserving support.
Safety Comes First.
A family experiencing domestic violence, abuse, exploitation or immediate danger needs appropriate professional and emergency resources.
Heaven Sent can help connect individuals and families with qualified community providers and specialized resources within our role.
If someone is in immediate danger, call 911.
Ask for Help Before Everything Falls Apart.
You do not have to wait until the family is sleeping in a car to ask about housing resources.
You do not have to wait until the refrigerator is empty to ask about food resources.
You do not have to wait until exhaustion becomes a crisis to ask where support may exist.
Start with what is happening today. We can help identify the next appropriate step.
Partners Can Help Strengthen the Entire Family.
Heaven Sent can develop support around specific needs while respecting the eligibility, application, contracting, charitable-giving and funding requirements of each partner.

Family Housing Should Be More Than Four Walls.
Heaven Sent goes to the people. Safe Harbor gives people a place to move forward.
Heaven Sent's planned Safe Harbor development is intended to combine affordable housing with pathways to supportive services, education, workforce development, food and nutrition, transportation, technology, disaster preparedness and community connection.
Family-capable housing is an important part of that plan because families need enough space to remain families.
Safe Harbor is a development-stage initiative. Planned housing figures do not represent current housing availability and remain subject to financing, land-use approvals, design, construction and program development.

Every child deserves dignity. Every parent deserves to be heard. Every family deserves the opportunity to move from crisis toward stability.
Heaven Sent provides community-based resource navigation, client casework, coordination, referrals, practical assistance and follow-up within available capacity. Services, goods, transportation, financial assistance, housing, childcare, food and other resources depend on eligibility, geography, available funding, donations, staffing, provider capacity and program availability. Heaven Sent does not replace licensed medical, behavioral-health, legal, childcare, domestic-violence or other regulated professionals and providers. Eligibility for government and third-party programs is determined by the administering agency or authorized provider. For immediate danger or a medical emergency, call 911. Faith and pastoral support are voluntary and are not a condition of receiving other Heaven Sent services.
